This first release of the Scout website collects what is needed to run contributor publishing. The mobile app is a separate product.
What this website collects
Scout uses its sign-in provider to manage your account identifier and email. Email accounts on the independent Scout website are managed by Supabase; the original private preview uses ChatGPT sign-in. Scout stores the public name, website and bio you choose, your dispatches, photographs, reports and blocked-contributor preferences.
How it is used
Your account identifier connects you to your drafts and posts. Your chosen byline, website, published stories and attached photographs are visible to people who can access this site. Drafts and unattached photographs are restricted to their owner.
Location and photographs
This website does not request your device location. Towns and incident addresses are supplied by contributors. Photographs uploaded through the editor are re-encoded to remove embedded location metadata. Do not put personal or sensitive information in a report.
Storage and service providers
The independent Scout website uses Cloudflare for hosting and photos, Supabase for accounts and records, and the configured email provider for account messages. The original private preview uses OpenAI Sites. These providers process the information needed to deliver those services. Scout does not include advertising networks or cross-site advertising trackers.
Your choices
You can edit your profile, edit a dispatch, move it back to a draft, remove it from the site, and manage blocked contributors from your account. Removal makes a dispatch unavailable on the site; it is not a permanent data-erasure request. Contact Scout for account deletion, data export or a privacy question.
Before public launch
This policy describes the current website implementation. Final retention periods, operator details and policies for the separate mobile app must be finalized before a public launch.
